Minnesota
Renaissance Festival 1997:
Peasants and Townsfolk

One of the fine artisans hard at work.

This "entertaining"
fellow is Smee, from the "Smee and Blog" singing executioner
act. I must admit, they carry axes and nooses better than they carry
tunes. Although, hearing a rousing rendition of "My Favourite
Things," Smee andBlog style, is definitely something to experience.
When you see them, be sure to ask how Waldo the Wonder-Rat is doing.
Last I heard he had committed suicide in a blender, but Smee here
denies the whole thing. And who am I to not believe him...?

Here we
have a snake fit for a king... or is that a king fit for a snake...?
Anyway, the Como cottage (named for the Como Park Zoo, last of the
country's free zoos) is a great place to learn about reptiles, amphibians,
and the highly interesting people that go with them. My only complaint
is that I wish they'd feed those turtles a little more...

This ogre
is in clear violation of theKing's law! I saw a commoner in the
stocks for picking her nose. I couldn't find the sheriff anywhere--
I wonder if donuts existed in the age of Henry...?

One of
the comely lasses at the Irish cottage. There you can find music,
dance, good company and a warm fire on a cold day.

Another
inhabitant of the Irish cottage.

Here we
have a resident of the Minnesota RenFest. We called her "Gabbie,"
although that's not her real name. She responds well to suggestions,
speaks directly to God, and can taunt and insult with the best of
'em!
